Will he come back? What the cards really say

It is the most common and most misunderstood question. The cards do not sign a promise: they show whether there is still a taut thread between you, what is holding it still, and whether the movement you are waiting for starts from him or has to start from you.

Why «will he come back?» is a difficult question

Asking only «will he come back?" forces the reading into a yes or no, and on a yes or no nothing is built. The point you really need to know is another one: is there still a bond, and if so, what is blocking it.

Reframed like this — "what is still between us and what is preventing this person from coming forward" — the same four-card spread becomes much more informative: it tells you whether you are waiting for something alive or holding on to something that has already closed.

Cards of reconnection

Six of Cups. The card of the past returning: memories, nostalgia, someone reappearing from a chapter already closed.

Judgement. A chapter that reopens, often with a call or a clarification that arrives after a long silence.

Two of Cups. The bond re-forming as equals, with mutual recognition.

Ace of Cups. A new feeling opening — sometimes with the same person, sometimes with another: the context of the four cards tells which.

Cards that indicate closure

Eight of Cups. Someone walks away by choice, not out of anger. It is the card of someone who has already turned their back on a situation.

The Tower. A clean break of an equilibrium: what was there will not return in the same form.

Five of Cups. The gaze fixed on what has been lost, while behind you something intact remains that you are not looking at.

These cards are not a sentence: very often they indicate that the energy you are investing in waiting is costing you more than the bond can give back today.

Is he thinking about me?

A variant of the same question, but more delicate and often more useful: the reading distinguishes thought from desire, and desire from decision. It often happens that the cards show a present thought but not strong enough to become a gesture — precious information, because it shifts the question from "him" to "what do I want to do with this".

Frequently asked questions

Can the tarot tell if he will come back?
The cards show whether the bond is still active, what is holding it still and which direction it is moving. A return is the result of two wills: the reading describes the part you cannot see, not a promise.
Which cards indicate a return?
The Six of Cups is the past resurfacing, Judgement speaks of a chapter reopening, the Two of Cups of a bond re-forming on equal terms. The Eight of Cups and the Tower instead indicate a departure that has to be accepted.
Is he thinking about me?
It is a legitimate question and the cards handle it well: they describe whether there is a thought directed at you, whether it is nostalgia or desire, and whether it is strong enough to become a gesture.
How often can I ask the same question?
Repeating the same question every day does not change the answer, it only changes your mood. Better wait until something actually moves — a message, a meeting, a decision of yours — and then read the situation again.
