Online tarot: are the cards you pick really the ones in your reading?

When you tap a card on the screen, are you really choosing it? How the moment of choice works in Predicta tarot readings.

When a reading happens in front of a physical deck, there is one moment that belongs entirely to the person asking the question: choosing the cards.

Online, a doubt naturally comes up.

When we tap a card on the screen, are we really choosing it? Or is what we see only an animation, with the result already decided somewhere else?

It is a fair question. And it is exactly why, when designing Predicta, we gave the moment of choice so much weight.

Choosing the cards is not just an animation

The deck used for tarot readings on Predicta is made of 78 cards.

The experience was designed so that you can interact with the deck and make your own selection.

The cards you select are the cards actually used in your reading.

You never pick one card and receive another.

What you touch on the screen genuinely enters the reading you get back.

Why we kept the moment of choice

A tarot reading is not only the final interpretation.

There is also the moment before it: the one where a person focuses on their question, looks at the deck and decides which cards to take.

Moving an experience like that online does not have to mean deleting that step.

This is why Predicta was not designed as a simple button that generates a few cards to show you.

We wanted to keep a space where the choice belongs to the person having the reading.

Digital changes the way the deck is presented, but it does not have to take away your ability to choose.

A complete deck of 78 tarot cards

The deck used in the readings includes all 78 tarot cards.

You are not shown a small selection prepared in advance for that reading.

A complete deck keeps the variety a tarot reading needs and, above all, makes the act of selecting meaningful.

The card you choose is not decorative: it becomes part of the reading.

What happens after the choice?

Once selected, the cards are used to build the reading you asked for.

How they are interpreted depends on the type of experience you chose and on the information you decide to share along the way.

Predicta uses its own reading and interpretation method to connect the elements the result requires.

We deliberately chose not to publish the technical details and internal logic of the system: what we want to be transparent about is the user experience.

The cards you choose are the cards used in your reading.

How those cards are then read together, according to the question and the position they occupy in the spread, is covered in “How to read tarot cards”.

And in Couple Compatibility?

The same principle matters even more in the Couple Compatibility reading.

Along the way we collect the information needed to put the relationship in context, and then you reach the moment where you choose the cards.

The cards you personally select become part of the compatibility reading, together with the information you provided.

The result is not built from a generic description of two people or a standard sentence attached to a couple.

The cards you actually chose are part of the experience and of the reading returned.

We do not publish the formulas, weightings or internal logic Predicta uses to produce the result.

An important note about authenticity

Talking about tarot inevitably means entering a territory where every person may believe something different.

Predicta does not claim to decide what anyone should believe about tarot.

What we can be transparent about is something very concrete: how the choice works inside our digital experience.

When you select a card, that choice is not later swapped for a different card.

The gesture you make on the screen has a real consequence on the reading you receive.

That is what choosing your own cards means on Predicta.

From the deck to your reading

We wanted to bring online an experience that preserved one of the most recognisable gestures of a traditional reading: looking at the cards and choosing.

We cannot decide what that moment will mean to you personally.

What we can do is make sure the choice is genuinely yours.

The deck is in front of you.

You pick the cards. And those are the cards that enter your reading.

If you want to try, choose your cards and start a tarot reading.

Frequently asked questions

Are the cards I pick online really the ones used in my reading?
Yes. The card you select on screen goes into your spread: pick a different one and the cards in the reading change, and so does the interpretation you receive.
Does the online deck contain all 78 cards?
Yes. Readings use the complete 78-card tarot deck, Major and Minor Arcana, exactly as in a traditional reading.
Can I choose the cards in the other Predicta readings too?
The moment of choice is part of the tarot readings and of the Couple Compatibility reading: in both, the cards in the spread are selected by the person having the reading.
Can an online reading feel like a reading with a physical deck?
They are different experiences: online you lose the touch of the cards and the presence of a reader. What remains are the two elements that actually build the reading — the question you ask and the cards you choose yourself.
